Reservation Policy

Bookings through online sites such as VRBO, booking.com and Airbnb are managed according to their systems.

For all direct bookings, reservations must be confirmed by email and must be guaranteed with the payment of a 30% deposit by the following methods: bank transfer, cheque, credit (MasterCard or Visa) or debit card.

  • 30% of the total accommodation cost of your stay

  • Your balance payment will be payable 1 month before arrival or with prior agreement on arrival with Sumup terminal (1.75% transaction fee )

  • For reservations made within 24 hours of the arrival date, a reservation must be guaranteed by a credit card and we reserve the right to request a preauthorisation of your credit card equal to the total cost of your stay

  • We do not accept American Express nor Diners Club credit cards.

  • 1854 Chassors has been classified as 4 star by the Meublé du tourisme de France. Therefore, a stay tax of 1,60 euros per adult is applicable and to be paid prior to departure either by cash or cheque. This is directly transferred to the Cognac tourist office. At this time, VRBO and Airbnb charge this tax at time of booking and is managed by their system.

  • A damage deposit of 150 euros is applicable for each booking and detailed in the contract. If booking direct or by booking.com, this is to be paid on arrival in the form of cheque or cash. A walk round will be carried out by both parties at the end of the tenancy after which the deposit will be returned if no damage has been incurred. For VRBO and Airbnb, the damage deposit is managed through their system and procedures but a walk round will still occur.


Minimum Stay

High season, there is a minimum stay of 5 nights. Mid season, we have a minimum 3 night stay and low season, 2 night stay. However, please contact us to discuss as there may be other availability between booked dates.


Cancellation Policy

  • Cancellation of up to 14 days prior to arrival will result in a 100% refund.

  • There will be NO refund for cancellations made within 14 days of arrival.

  • If booking by booking platforms such as VRBO, Airbnb and Booking.com please refer to their policy.

  • It is the responsibility of each guest to ensure that they have adequate travel insurance in place to cover the eventuality of the costs incurred by their cancellation. We are happy to supply written evidence of your reservation and any deposits made should these be requested by your insurance provider.


Arrival and Departure Times

You are welcome to arrive after 4pm until 11 p.m. . We would be grateful if you could indicate an approximate time of arrival. If your travel plans dictate a late arrival, or you are delayed on route, this is fine as we live on site but we would appreciate ou notify us of your intended arrival..

Leaving us may be difficult, but we ask that you vacate your room by 11am on your day of departure. An end of tenancy clean is included in the rental charge but we ask that the property is left in the same state as on arrival with details regarding refuse set out in the contract sent out post reservation, signed by both parties.


Children, Pets and Smoking policy

1854 Chassors is extremely child friendly. As the property is completely walled, it allows all members of your family or group to sit back, relax and enjoy your holiday. We also have sets of child equipment available

Dogs are allowed subject to agreement with us prior to booking.

1854 Chassors is no smoking apart from your private outside dining area and the common bar area outside the BBQ area.

1854 Chassors and its cottages are situated on the ground floor therefore easily accessible to all.

How we use your information

Our privacy notice is a detailed guide to how we use your information. It sets out our approach to how we handle your personal information in the following areas. 

We will never sell, rent or exchange your details with any other organisation. We may in future share personal information with third party processors in order to carry out specific tasks for us, in such cases we will have a contract with the third party strictly limiting what they can do with the data and how long they can hold it for.

  • If you browse our website.

If you browse our website we will not collect any personal data from you unless you specifically and knowingly give it to us.

  • If you engage with us through social media.

We use a variety of online engagement tools and social media platforms to communicate and interact with customers and potential customers.  We use third-party platforms including, but not limited to, Facebook, Instagram, TripAdvisor, Twitter and LinkedIn.  When interacting with our presence on those sites you may reveal certain personal information. Apart from using  your information to  respond to a specific message or request, we will not use, share or retain any  personal information given on these channels.

  • If you make an enquiry.

If you make an enquiry with us we will keep any of the information you send us in order to respond to your query. You can make an enquiry through the our website or any third party websites, by email, post or telephone.

If your enquiry does not lead to a booking for one of our products or services we will keep your information for a maximum of two years in case you do eventually book with us. After two years we will delete all personal data you have given us. If you would like us to delete your personal data sooner then please do let us know.

  • If you make a booking with us.

If your enquiry leads to you making a booking we will keep your personal data for 7 years to satisfy the requirements of the French tax authorities, whereupon we will delete or anonymise it.

We may store ‘special category data’ relating to you or to people in your party. This would include information about dietary requirements and access needs. This data, which is particularly sensitive will only be retained for as long as it is strictly needed and will be deleted or anonymised within 6 months.

If you have made a booking with us in the last five years we may send you an annual email newsletter updating you on the products and services we are offering in the coming year. You may at any time unsubscribe from this communication which is sent by virtue of our legitimate interest. 

In some cases we may ask you if we can share an endorsement from you on our website or other advertising material. In such cases we will always get explicit permission from you in advance and you will always have the right to withdraw that permission.

Your Rights

You have the following rights related to your personal data:

  • The right to request that inaccuracies in personal data we hold be corrected

  • The right to request us to stop processing your personal data

  • The right to withdraw consent, where we are relying on it
